In Memory of Janet Pata
Many SCSA families and the soccer community in Charlotte know the Pata family. Joe was the first President of SCSA and was the heart and soul behind the club’s phenomenal growth over the past 10 years. Joe’s wife, Janet, was diagnosed with cancer early in 2007 and Sunday passed away at her home. Janet played such a significant role in this club’s growth through the countless hours she spent coordinating paperwork for teams, ordering uniforms and giving the club support when there were few volunteers. Without Janet, SCSA wouldn’t be where it is today and it’s impossible to put into words her contributions to this club and the Charlotte soccer community. Her patience was extraordinary and she was always there to help a player or coach. She opened up her home to coaches, team managers and board members and made it a warm and inviting place to conduct the business of soccer. We’ve lost a friend. Janet will be missed but for those who knew her she will live on in our hearts and memories. Please remember Janet and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
A visitation with the family will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2008 in the Sanctuary of St. Matthew Catholic Church with Monsignor John J. McSweeney, celebrant. Reception for family/friends will be held immediately after at St. Matthews.
